国家自然科学基金委员会在成立20周年之际，于2006年5月举办了“21世纪科学前沿与中国的机遇”高层论坛，邀请包括7位诺贝尔科学奖得主在内的20位国内外科学精英，以及来自美国、德国、英国、日本等7国的科学基金组织领导人，分析未来10～20年科学发展的趋势与前沿，阐述发达国家与中国在科学领域开展国际合作的重要意义与发展前景，并对我国的科学发展提出政策建议。本报告集不仅是难得的高级科普教材，而且对研究我国科技政策与科研管理工作具有借鉴作用，同时对深入了解国家自然科学基金委员会的资助机制与资助政策也有帮助。
