这套ESP教材专为职业教育的学生设计，也可以服务于专业人士，目的是帮助他们发展在专业工作环境中取得成功所需的语言技能。在每堂课上整合听说读写4种语言技能；富于职业特色的对话，帮助学生在现实生活中使用语言；根据实际情况、专业场景进行语言和技能的练习；通过图片展示关键词汇，一目了然。
单元编排按照语言聚焦、阅读训练、听力训练、口语练习、写作训练的顺序逐一配有词汇、课文、听力、口语及写作练习。常用词汇部分的学习主要是辅助专业相关词汇的学习，课文阅读文本让学习者了解与工作岗位相关的信息。通过实例学习，学生对农业工作会有更深入的了解，增加与工作相关的语言积累。同时，为了使教材能更符合我国英语教学的实际情况和教学需求，我们增编了部分内容，增加了各单元的词汇表，对所有词汇加了中文释义。
